Heavy Blues with attitude Jane Lee Hooker

They show once again that electric blues easily goes hand in hand with the energy of rock and punk music. The five women of Jane Lee Hooker from New York City infuse the grit and attitude of their hometown into the blues.

‘Wade In The Water’ power song!

Wade In The Water, is their powerhouse hit song with a whole lot of attitude. High, gritty and powerful vocals are mixed with heavy bass and bad ass guitar solos. This song is like a destructive 4×4 pick up crossing through wild swamps leaving everything behind. But above all, the four minutes this song last go by in a heartbeat.

Inspiration from Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Johnny Winter

With double lead guitars, a hard-driving rhythm section, and soul-scouring vocals, Jane Lee Hooker honors the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Winter, Big Mama Thornton, and other blues greats. Few bands today deliver the goods with as much raw soul as Jane Lee Hooker.

Performing with great band like MC5 and Motörhead

All these women bring a big suitcase of experience with them in Rock ‘n Roll, Blues and Rock. Before Jane Lee Hooker they have all played for thousands of fans while sharing bills with bands like Motörhead, MC5, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, and Deep Purple.

Forming Jane Lee Hooker

Jane Lee Hooker consists of guitarists Hightop and T-Bone were patt of alternative country rock band Helldorado in the ’90s. From there, Hightop joined Nashville Pussy, T-Bone joined Bad Wizard. But when their time with those bands ended, they realized they really missed the rush of trading guitar solos with one another.

To get to that goal Hightop and T-Bone  first  needed a band. They quickly recruited Hail Mary, who played bass with Hightop in the punk band the Wives. Cool Whip sat behind the drum kit and got the nod before she even finished slamming out the first song of her audition. And no singer can bring a crowd to its knees harder or faster than Dana “Danger” Athens, they recall in their bio.

Mean Town Blues and more from debut album No B!

In 2016 they released their debut album “NO B” which is filled wot energy rock n roll songs. For example Mean Town Blues contains some of the best soloing by a duo. Free Me, is soulful as the work of Little Miss Cornshucks and Big Maybelle.

You got to have some confidence to cover blues classics like Mannish Boy and Champagne and Reefer, but Jane Lee Hooker nailed these songs big time. The whole album is refreshing and lots of fun to listen to.
