Kicking off with a killer honky-tonk Piano tune, and wild swinging harmonica melodies the up-tempo vocals start in. “Chicago Calling” is enjoyable every one of the 145 seconds.
Inspiration for British blues musicians
This English Blues musician and harmonica player was a big influence on a generation of musicians. Mick Jagger was highly inspired by Davies’s harmonica playing.
According to his bio page, Cyril Davies started his career in music as a banjo player in the fifties. Later he switched to Harmonica and became a Chicago Style bluesman. He also ran a club called “London Blues and Barrelhouse Club.
