Husky Burnette preachin’ the Blues and Rock ‘n Roll

The songs of Husky Burnette make me wanna drink a beer and stomp that boot on the floor. As I experienced it was the way to go once you get the feeling of Burnette’s music and especially his hit “Beat and Lowdown”. Eventually it cost me a six pack to stop listening to the song of this bluesman from Tennessee. Husky Burnette who hails from Chattanooga understands how to make Dirty Blues songs on a Rock ‘n Roll Rhythm. If you’re looking for new musicians in that genre you will meet Husky Burnette very quick.  The Blues is a religion and Brian “Husky” Burnette preaches it!

Beat and Lowdown / Dirty Getting Down

Raw-edged blues is catchy through the slide guitar, the stomping drums and wild harmonica, but above all the deep vocals. “Beat and Lowdown” is an example of that. Burnette created a popping groove supplemented with a killer guitar riff.  Dirty Getting Down is a song with a true hillbilly banjo line that is leading in the composition. All that combined with raw speaching vocals of Husky.

The Dirty blues tradition

R.L. Burnside and John Spencer proved back in the nineties they could make that dirty blues . GravelRoad did the same as a band and alongside T. Model Ford in the early 21st century. Reverend Deadeye did it too. Husky Burnette is doing the same right now. You can feel the testimony as he blends Electric Blues and Rock n Roll. His music is gritty, soulful, southern, low-down and dirty. This musician sho’ makes them blues hits.
