Icelands Blues Rock ‘n’ Rollers Kaleo
The new HBO serie Vinyl about the music industry in the seventies recently aired on television. This serie created by Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, Rich Cohen and Terence Winter is interesting for all music lovers. Scorsese is a well known blues lover, and in his movies you will find a lot of great blues songs. One band that is featured in the serie is four piece band Kaleo from Iceland.
Vinyl Soundtrack ” No Good”
Kaleo’s song “No Good” is recorded in the United Record Pressing a famous studio in Nashville. I was happily surprised by the sound of these guys from Iceland. Kaleo brings you some of the finest modern Rock ‘n’ Roll and Blues Rock. On top of the raw-edged blues you will find catchy lyrics and backing vocals. This all makes Kaleo’s music very approachable.
In their home country of Iceland, the four-piece band Kaleo is a well known name since 2012. But last year they were ready to descend upon foreign shores. According to there own website “Kaleo is bringing their gorgeous blend of folk, blues, country, and rock to a wider mainstream audience in America”.

Starting the Band and Bandname meaning
The members of Kaleo are Best friends since attending elementary school in the small town of Mosfellsbaer outside of Reykjavik. bandleader JJ Juliusson, drummer David Antonsson Crivello, and bassist Danny Jones began playing together at the age of 17. Honing their skills, they played countless shows around the nation’s capital for a few years before adding guitarist Rubin Pollock to the mix in 2012. They named the band Kaleo, which means “the sound” in Hawaiian, and started their career in earnest with a handful of well-received shows at the 2012 Iceland Airwaves music festival.
Since signed to Atlantic Records in the US, Kaleo has moved to Austin, Texas and has begun touring nationwide. With a soundtrack in promising serie these guys seem to have the world at their feet!
